Wonderful afternoon of petanque. First of all there were 32 players – a new record. And 16 teams all paid £2 so the prize pot was the largest ever of £15, £10 and £5 with £2 to club funds. Secondly it was dry and often sunny. Thirdly everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves and to top it all off Robin and Rita (AKA Rock & Roll) won the first prize with 3 wins out of 3 and a points difference of +23.
Second were the Killers (Phil and Marie) with 3 wins and +19 and third were a team called Whatever (Paul & Janet). 12 people stayed on afterwards to play another game or two.
Next 7 days is busy with a league match on Tuesday, The Stroke Association fundraiser on Thursday and quiz night Friday.
November begins with the members monthly melee on Sunday the 1st.
