2nd War of t’ Roses

For the second time in a month or so it was Yorks v Lancs (or should we say Mancs?) at Greenhead Park. Trafford were the visitors as a second side tried out the Pennine League format prior to the first season of the league in 2020.

It was at least a dry day but cold and cloudy. Trafford brought 2 squads of 6 as did Huddersfield and we started at 1030.

Triples were level on 1-1 for both the A teams game and the B teams game but in the 3 pairs games Trafford won the A team fixture 2-1 to win the match 3-2 overall. In the B team fixture Huddersfield won all 3 pairs to win the match 4-1. As the last game on the terrain was finishing it became obvious that it was the difference between 5-5 and 6-4. It was very close up to 10-10 then in a tight finish Kevin placed 2 brilliant points to clinch the win.

Roy & Robin hold onto the big trophy. Neil says well done!

Roy & Robin hold onto the big trophy. Neil says well done!

Adding it all up meant that it was Huddersfield’s day winning 6 games to Trafford’s 4. Points difference was +26 to Huddersfield. It was great day played in good spirit. Several Trafford players realised that Huddersfield was only about 30 minutes in a fast car so joined up on the spot. Many stayed on to play on our regular Sunday session as well.

More pictures on the way. Keep coming back to look.            White Rose 2 – 0 Red Rose.
